It's very obvious, they are clueless, and bank on the clueless gamers that find the linear, cheesey narrated, often cliche and badly put together SP junk "fun". Of course, BOTH Bioware, and Beamdog are NOT role-playing people or developers, they are game makers only. Modding ( haks) also royal pains to work with/into. The clowns at Bioware, actually ignored PW/Multi-player popularity ( because they weren't making money on that, and no one bought their DLC like "modules" of utter single player s.h.i.t.
NWN2- looks nicer on the surface, but multi-player is crap. Only reason I got EE was a sale, and checked it out to compare to Diamond, but because player counts dropping off in Diamond, and is no longer for sale ( hence no new players coming in), have since had to swallow down the vile, and convert over to EE too. Not great, Over priced, and basic garbage. NWN2 and EE are on par with each other in my eyes. It's now very old, but you can at least get a feel for their idea of progression which is, frankly, that even turtles can kill you at level 1, very easily, if you aren't incredibly careful.It's shocking how much reviewers have been trained to expect combat systems to work like they do in American third person action games.NWN 1 - And Diamond actually beats EE, except Beamdog managed to block GOG's sale of the Original game, forcing the aged dying multi-players to convert over to EE. They focus on quests, your choices often impact the narrative and strong NPCs.Both game developers focus on progression from totally different perspectives.If you prefer fantasy, try something like Risen (or Risen 2 - not Risen 3, it's the weakest of the trilogy). They also have no narrative or NPCs of any note.Piranha Bytes games are games where no matter how good you are at the system, there are enemies you will be literally unable to even damage until you have the right equipment and levels. They're just brilliant.I tend to think PB is on the OTHER END of the spectrum to Dark Souls - Dark Souls is a game where you can win without updating your stats ever, in no armour, punching every enemy as long as you're good enough at the system. Nobody else - and I mean that literally - no other company makes games the way Piranha Bytes does.The theme isn't really one I care about either, but I'd happily suffer through it to enjoy their narrative/game systems.
Piranha Bytes games are in their own genre, commonly referred to as euro jank.If you like the genre, they're unavoidable.
